BRICK BY BRICK……
The Goshen football program is based on the 4 “C’s”….Character, Competence, Commitment, and Competition. The players and staff will represent the program, the school, and the community with high character values, playing the game the way it’s supposed to be played, “RedHawk Style”. Moreover, this will be done within the rules of the game and by having good character on the field as well as off the field.
Competence is about each player understanding their role on the team and doing it to the best of their ability. Every member of the Goshen football program will have a role, and each member will need to understand the importance of that role as it relates to the overall success of the program. Not all roles are as glamorous as others, but all are vitally important.
Commitment is the third pillar of the program. Players must be committed in-season and out of season. Goshen football asks its players to commit to working hard, commit to making the right choices, and commit to being a great teammate. It’s easy to be committed to success during the Fall, but being committed during the off-season is a true test. The Goshen football program is an advocate of multi-sport athletes, but if an athlete is not in season, being committed to improving physically and mentally is important.
Finally, competition is the fourth pillar. In life, competition is always present, whether it is for a new job or promotion, a possible starting spot on the team, or even a scholarship. There is not much in life that is just handed out. Things must be earned! Goshen football will instill this mentality in our players. Goshen football players will know the importance of competition and how competition drives success. Competition will be present during off-season workouts, in-season practice, and in the classroom.
The main objective is to make Goshen Football relevant again. Goshen football players will play with great effort and great technique. This is a philosophy that will be emphasized each and every day, during each and every rep.
